LOST FOAM CASTING
Motor Mount Casting for the DC Series wound electric motor
 The sprue is cut off.

The remainder of the sprue is machined off in the lathe.

The mounting surfaces are machined smooth.

The part is then sand blasted mainly for appearance. I could have refined the part more by machining but, this is not a visible part and speed of manufacture is of the essence.

The final motor mount holes were drilled in position using a drill press. This process lends itself well to this type of part. The part met all my original criteria - a strong, lightweight, moderately complex shaped part with little time and machining effort.
